trying to sleep, thought about my desire for comfort. thought of being tenderly picked up and embraced, and synonymous w that comfort was the graceful memory of cold, curly hair — hit w a memory of my mom picking me up from my grandma’s at night when I was little. my home had returned, I would nestle into her cold locks and against her soft, even colder skin, smelling like winter and the metal of car keys
