Abraham has his faith tested to the extreme. So did the Israelites, enslaved in Egypt for years. To what extent, in my cushy western life, will I be tested? It will never compare to these struggles. It will never compare to the sacrifice of Christ. So I must count it as joy. I should rejoice with the truth as my mind asserts lies and distractions. The reward will be that much sweeter. Not a reward in praises or exaltation, but in sheer communion with my Lord.
