i can walk around the house again. it’s the end of my three day covid isolation. i kiss sammy’s head and i feel his eyelashes flick against my thigh. his face smudged between my leg and the couch. i feel like i’ve just been dropped off at the bus station. everyone is adjusting their bags, rolling away into the night. the bus is lurching on. how do i go home after seeing what i saw. how can i do anything but stay awake. phone monogamy. headaches. the further away i go, the more the world stretches on and on and on.
