Today I had a revelation about my mom during communion. I used to get so annoyed when she would cry EVERY SINGLE TIME we took communion. I thought, "Seriously! We do this EVERY week! Why do you have to cry EVERY time?!?" Today I realized with a new clarity the depth of the sacrifice that communion represents. I'm not annoyed anymore that she cried. Now I am sad because I know the depth of her feeling unworthy. I know she cried because she never thought she deserved the sacrifice. The thing is, Jesus' sacrifice was for every person. And God loves us all. None of us is worthy. He loves us anyway. I hope my mom can understand that someday...
